One Hundred Ounce Silver Bars

For the serious investor, 100 ounce silver bars are often the only way to go. If you’re going to spend the money, why bother with smaller sizes? Silver bars of this size are a smart investment, since, traditionally; the prices of precious metals have remained relatively stable. This has been true even during economic upset. Prices do and always will fluctuate, but silver has remained remarkably steady, especially next to dollars, pounds, Euros and other monetary forms of wealth.

A 100 oz silver bar is a significant investment not only in value, but in size. These bars aren’t small, and they require proper storage and protection. Most serious collectors of silver invest in a high-quality home safe, or entrust their collection to a safety-deposit box at their bank. After all, if your home should be broken into, you don’t want thieves making off with your silver bars and coins. If you do choose to keep your silver at home, be sure to add the value to your homeowner’s insurance.

There are fewer suppliers for 100 ounce silver bars as there are for smaller denominations, but they’re definitely not hard to find. Be certain that you’re dealing with a reputable company before you hand over any money. Avoid anything “plated,” “electroplated,” or “coated.” These bars are usually made of a cheap metal such as nickel, and then coated with an extremely thin later of actual silver. The industry standard is currently .999 fine sterling silver, or .999 fine silver. These are the only grades of silver worth investing in. Englehard, Johnson Matthey and Sunshine Mining are just some of the manufacturers that make reputable, collectable hundred ounce bars

While they may seem a bit cumbersome while you’re transporting and putting them away, a 100 oz silver bar is actually the best form of silver for serious investors. They take up less space than an equal weight of silver in 1, 5, or 10 ounce sizes. For this reason, among others, 100 ounce silver bars have been the investment of choice for many savvy consumers for years, and should continue to be for years to come.
